A new adventure into sleep, mindset and metabolism

I’m so honored to share that I’ve partnered with Mirror Sleep Wise, a healthtech company on a mission to help people sleep better, at scale.

They deliver digital, personalised sleep therapy based on CBT-I (the first-line treatment for insomnia), making evidence-based support accessible to far more people.

Through my referral link, my patients and my readers get 10% off their programs.

On their website you can find useful, clear and honest information about insomnia, you can also start with simple and validated questionnaires to know your baseline

Take a look at Mirror Sleep Wise

As a dietitian with a main focus on metabolism, nervous system and mental health I know very well how sleep modulates everything

Sleep is not a passive state, it’s a very active, complex, multitasking part of our life during which we clean up, rebuild, repair, eliminate waste, we fix emotions, memories, we structure new neurons connections

To allow all those activities we must pay attention to our day, our lifestyle, light exposure, evening activities and interactions, exercise, meal timing – quality – quantity, night pre-set, screens use…

If sleep is efficient and restorative our day will be great, our metabolism, hormones, digestion, mood, energy and cognitive tasks will be excellent

Can not wait to build a strong and empowering collaborations with sleep experts

A huge thank you to my great friend and colleague Ginevra Pignata who introduced me to Mirror Sleep Wise

Let’s start and let yourself check your knowledge about your sleep or your sleep disturbances

on my blog I wrote about sleep, metabolism, glucose variability and the interactions between them, you can find this blog article to start

two amazing recent papers enlightening some great interactions:

in the first one inadequate sleep duration is positively associated with glycemic variability and negative associated with time in range (TIR).

researchers found two trajectories of sleep onset, early and late ones. late sleep onset was associated with higher glycemic variability.

  • the worst scenario: inadequate sleep + late sleep onset
  • te best scenario: adequate sleep + early sleep onset

going to bed earlier protects to the metabolic disturbances of a inadeguate sleep!

the second paper is part of the Human Phenotype Project, Israel cohort. what researchers found is very interesting: they assessed meal timing, diet composition, micronutrients and macronutrients.

the stronger associations with better sleep quality and mean heart rate were with higher fiber consumption, more plant based foods, higher plant diversity.

late dinner, high calories late meal, high volume meal increase sleep time but worsen heart rate; intermittent fasting increases sleep onset latency but lower heart rate

“These findings indicate that routine daily dietary choices, particularly plant-forward composition and meal timing, have immediate and measurable effects on objective sleep architecture”.

these findings open new practical and actionable behavior to support both metabolism and sleep to achieve a healthy and efficient lifestyle
